Charlie and Lola Charlie and Lola is a charming animated series for young children which first appeared on CBBC in 2005. It is about a brother and sister, and how they cope with everyday situations. Author and illustrator Lauren Childs studied at City and Guilds Art School and had a variety of jobs including making lampshades and assisting Damien Hirst before writing her first children’s book, Clarice Bean, which was published in 1999. After that came Charlie and Lola, and Lauren won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal for 'I will Not Ever, Never Eat a Tomato.'in 2001.
